Summer Reading List

DSC_0053DSC_0059DSC_0056DSC_0060_editedI adore books and their ability to help you escape reality, even if it’s just for a little while. You can be transported into a different time, land, or world and have an entire new adventure in the comfort of your soft cushy bed! You can learn spells and ride the Hogwarts express while sunbathing or learn someone’s life story and realize there is another person out there going through the same thing as you and no longer feel alone. Through books you can have endless adventures, hear magnificent stories and be entertained for hours! How could someone possibly not enjoy reading!?

The Summer is my favorite time to get captured in a book or two! I have so much free time allowing me the freedom to be captivated by an enchanting story for hours while I enjoy the lovely warm weather. I enjoy “easier” books in the Summer, like “The Selection” series or a good biography, such as Lily Collins’ “Unfiltered”. Nothing too heavy or intense, those books belong in the Winter where you can have a blanket comfort you. “Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit” by Sean Hepburn Ferrer and “Iris Apfel: Accidental Icon” are two books I have my eye on to get started on this season! Both fashion related and about two ladies who I admire are inspired by, I hope to be picking at least one of them up at my bookstore soon!

I have also been quite interested in reading both “Little House On The Prairie” and “Anne Of Green Gables” for a while now and hope to read one of them this Summer! I love a good story set in 19th century, especially one which is a part of a series giving me another reason to get more books and have the adventure continue! Both are considered “children’s” books but I don’t care, I don’t believe you need to put an age limit on a good book! Another read I have had my eye on picking up is a bit more of a heavy read but still one I am very interested in, “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen. A classic and humorous novel which everyone seems to love! It’s quite surprising for someone who considers themselves such a “book worm” I haven’t read any of these classics yet but I am planning on changing that this Summer!

I can’t wait to get lost for hours on an adventure on the prairie or seeing the world through Iris Apfel’s eyes for a little while. Reading stories I believe can help you see things through a new perspective and unleash your creative conscience in a beautiful way. I can’t wait to see where these stories lead me and what daydreams they spark in my mind! What books are on your Summer reading list this year?
