A Chanel Girl On A Budget

Outfit Details: Jacket: Zara (Old. Similar Here) / Pants: J.Crew / Purse: Ted Baker (Old. Similar Here) / Shoes: Louise Et Cie

The “Chanel Girl” style of classically chic, tailored, black and white clothes is one way I would describe my personal style. I do have days where I am feeling like being a bit more extravagant and adding an element of surprise to my outfits with accessories like fascinators or cat purses, but at the end of the day I always come back to the classic style which Ms. Coco Chanel has helped create.  Lovely pearl necklaces, tailored black pants with a fitted white shirts, and classic tweed jackets are all elements which create the “Chanel Girl” style. While owning items such as a Chanel tweed jacket would be a dream come true, most simply can’t afford this kind of luxury (me being one of those gals). In moments like these I turn to my favorite stores which help me embrace my inner “Chanel Girl”… but on a budget.

I recently received this delightful tweed jacket (sold out. Similar here. Also love this one) for Christmas from my parents and was surprised to find out it came from Zara! A classic, fitted, A-line coat which delicately displays two gold buttons on the pockets simply screamed classic Chanel, but at an affordable chic price. The moment I opened the box I felt like Carrie Bradshaw opening the Oscar De La Renta from The Russian (You know the scene which every girl dreams of happening). I pulled out the lovely tweed coat and was instantly felt as if Coco Chanel had hand crafted this perfect little coat for me! Zara is one of my favorite stores when it comes to looking for classic pieces which resemble something you would find in the Chanel boutique in Paris, such as this jacket. They offer many tailored jackets, skirts, shirts, and even purses which all have that elegant Coco vibe to them.

Other brands, such as J.Crew and Banana Republic, also offer many styles of tailored fitted clothes which are perfect for a girl who wants to feel as timeless as Chanel without breaking the bank. You can find many classic pieces which even reflect her personal style, such as the “Pixie snap-front jodhpur” pant from J.Crew. These jodhpur pants reflect Coco’s personal style of tailoring men’s wear to work for women. They are perfectly fitted to your silhouette and offer a comfortable stretch. Combining comfort and chic has always been one of Chanel main focuses with clothes, and mine as well, making these pants Coco approved! She was one of the first women to sport jodhpurs while at the racing stables,  whereas most women wore heavy skirts and corsets, Coco opted for tailored pants which led her to stand out in true Chanel fashion. Add a simple fitted shirt, a tweed coat and a little Chanel No.5 and let your inner “Chanel Girl” out!

According to Coco Chanel “Fashion changes, style endures”  and thanks to my favorite brands I am able to find quality classic pieces for an affordable price which will endure the length of time. Being a timeless “Chanel Girl” can be obtained without breaking your budget, you just need to know where to look.sign-off-for-blog-post
